Keeping your catch
Clear rules, handled by your captain.
You can enjoy a legal share of edible catch from your charter. The crew measures, cleans or releases each catch and keeps the trip within the current sports-fishing allowance.
Up to 10 lb or one legal trophy fish
Each sports-fishing licence holder may retain up to 10 lb of marine product in one day’s catch, or one trophy fish. Your captain confirms how the allowance applies to the licences issued for your charter, manages the retained catch and can prepare a reasonable edible share for your group.
21–35 inches when open
For sports fishing, Nassau grouper must measure at least 21 inches and no more than 35 inches. The annual closed season is December 1 through February 28, when it cannot be taken or possessed.
Open August 1–March 31
Legal minimum: 3.25-inch carapace or a 5-ounce separated tail. Egg-bearing, soft-shelled and early-spawning “tar-spotted” lobster must not be taken. Lobster diving is a longer-trip request and requires the applicable licence.
Quota and size rules apply
Cleaned conch fillet has a 4-ounce minimum weight, and annual harvest quotas or notices may affect availability. Turks Ventures releases billfish and sharks and never keeps undersize, protected, closed-season or unwanted catch.
Fishing is not allowed in protected areas, including catch-and-release fishing. Rules, seasons and quotas can be updated, so your captain’s decision controls what may be kept on the day. Review the current TCI environmental guidance, government fisheries information and fisheries regulations.

How many guests does the fishing price cover?
The base fishing charter price covers up to four guests. Each additional guest costs extra according to the charter length, and fishing trips have a maximum of six guests.
Should we choose bottom fishing or deep-sea fishing?
Bottom fishing usually gives families and first-timers more hands-on action. Deep-sea fishing is about the offshore hunt for seasonal wahoo, tuna, mahi and other pelagic fish and benefits from a longer charter.
Are beginners and children welcome?
Yes. Bottom fishing is usually the easiest place to start, and the crew can help with baiting, technique and bringing the fish to the boat. Let us know the children’s ages when booking so we can recommend the best trip.
Which trip should we choose for catch and cook?
Choose at least six hours when seasonal conch or lobster diving and a fresh catch-and-cook experience are priorities. Eight hours gives you more room to add snorkeling, island hopping and a relaxed beach stop.
Do we need to bring rods, bait or a fishing licence?
No. The required charter licence, rods, tackle and bait for the booked fishing style are included.
What fish are biting during my vacation month?
Bottom fishing is available year-round. Wahoo, mahi and sailfish are generally stronger in winter, while tuna and marlin are more common in summer. The fishing calendar above is a guide; daily conditions and migration decide the actual bite.
Can guests keep the fish they catch?
Yes, guests may receive a legal share of edible catch within the sports-fishing allowance. Your captain measures and manages the retained catch, cleans what is suitable, and releases protected, undersize, closed-season or unwanted fish. Billfish and sharks are released.
